The Half Marathon and 10k are both primarily off road and hilly. The 10k has rolling hills for 5km out and the 5km back. The half marathon shares the first few miles before leveling out. However in the 6th mile there is a large climb (no one will judge you for walking this one, trust us!) before a long steady descent and then a relatively flat final few miles.

Is there an official race photographer?
There sure is! The Half Marathon and Marathon will have photographs taken by Scott Stolarz Photography. In the days following the race you will receive emails from the photography company with proofs of your photos that one may purchase.

Will there be water stations and medical on the course?
Each water station will contain water, an electrolyte mix, and two of the aid stations in the half marathon will contain Honey Stinger products. Please plan ahead and bring what you have trained with!

Will Gels be offered on the course?
At this time, there are no plans to offer gels on course. Many users of gels have previously left them scattered all over our courses and thus we refrain from giving them out. We highly encourage you to use the water, electrolyte mix, Honey Stinger, and various other supplies we offer at our aid stations and to leave no waste on the trails.

Will there be Aspirin on the course?
No, there will not be pain reliever medications on the course. For medical liability reasons, we are not allowed to offer them.

What does it mean that Tejon Ranch races are cupless?
Beginning in 2015, Spectrum Sports made the decision that it was in the best interest of the trails we utilize at our events to reduce the impact our races place on the scarce resources of these protected lands. Thus for all distances 10k and greater, our participants are required to carry their own cup/bottle throughout the race. We sell reusable and collapsible Hydroflask cups which have been received warmly by the vast majority of our participants, other participants opt to carry their own bottles they have used in training. We recognize that carrying your own cup may be a small inconvenience and may not be for everyone, but we firmly believe that this step which allows us to not waste over 25,000 cups a year at our four different trail events is a step worth taking for the long term health of our environment.

Are the trails closed to traffic?
Tejon Ranch is closed to the general public and thus the trails we utilize will have no traffic on them outside of race staff. You are free to enjoy pristine lands and views without the distraction of vehicles and the hustle and bustle of daily life living in Southern California (or wherever you may be joining us from).

Is the course certified?
No, trail races are unable to be certified. Our 10k is as close as you can get to 10k for a non-certified course. Our Half Marathon is a few tenths of a mile long. Unfortunately due to the very few options for routing the course through Tejon Ranch, it is not possible to get the course closer to 13.1 miles.

Are there finisher and/or age group awards?
The Kids Run, 10k, and Half Marathon will all receiver finisher medals and there will be awards 3 deep in standard age groups for the 10k and Half Marathon.

Does this race support any causes?
It absolutely does! We have partnered with the local school, Frazier Mountain High School who is providing the majority of our volunteers, in return we are making various donations to school clubs and athletics programs.

What can I expect after the event?
We are currently working towards having a beer garden and a live band. There will be food and drinks post-race and a very lovely setting to relax and talk about your journey under the awnings of the Tejon Ranch Equestrian Center.
