Coming up on its 41st Anniversary, this "bucket list' marathon features the exciting and historic marathon course used largely since the first year on the Catalina Island Conservancy’s lands. This includes much of the rugged terrain, spectacular vistas, challenging climbs and special challenges enjoyed by thousands of runners over the years!
In cooperation with our host, Catalina Island Conservancy, the Catalina Island Marathon is a CUPLESS COURSE! For hydration, we will be offering marathon participants a complimentary Hydrapak reusable soft-cup. Paricipants may also provide their own hydration system. Thank you for helping us reduce the footprint on the island!

***There will be an 8 hour cut-off time for the Marathon.
***We will have a truck in Two Harbors for bag check. Please make sure that your drop bag has your name and bib number visible on it. All bags will be brought back to the finish line in Avalon.

What if I can’t pick-up my bib? Can someone else pick-up my bib for me?
Yes, someone can pick-up your bib and registration materials if you cannot make it to packet pick-up. You MUST provide BOTH:
- A copy of your valid driver’s license or photo identification card (Smartphone picture will be accepted)
- A signed and printed out Event Waiver
- A signed BIB Authorization Form
WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RELEASE YOUR BIB TO ANOTHER PERSON WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION.

Marathon- Awards go to the top three male and female finishers in each age division, Clydesdale divisions, Athena divisions, and Islander Division. Awards will also be given to the overall top three male and female finishers.

Option A: Travel to Avalon on Friday night via the Catalina Express, stay in Avalon Friday night and take the race morning boat from Avalon to Two Harbors.
IMPORTANT: You may purchase a race morning boat ticket for $25 from Avalon to Two Harbors when you register online. This is an additional cost to your race registration. The boat leaves from the "mole" in Avalon at 5:00AM.
Option B: Travel to Two Harbors on Friday night via Catalina Express and stay the night in Two Harbors. You can pick up your bib Friday night or Saturday morning and be ready to go at the start line. Click here for lodging options in Two Harbors.
Option C: Catalina Classic Cruises will provide transportation to Marathon runners from Long Beach to Two Harbors via Avalon for $30.00. This is a one way fare. Cash or check only. Located inside the Queen Mary parking lot, in the Catalina Express Terminal. Parking is $15 per day. Please call in advance for reservation or information: 562-495-3566
Departure from Long Beach: 2:15 am. Race Morning
Arrive Avalon: 4:15am (no one gets off the boat)
Depart Avalon to Two Harbors: 5:00am
Arrive Two Harbors: 6:00am
Important note: Separate ticket for return boat must be purchased from the Catalina Express going to Downtown Landing Terminal. Catalina Classic and Catalina Express are approx. 1 mile apart, ($7.00 taxi, or 15 minute walk). Remember if you depart from the Queen Mary terminal, you will return to the Catalina Express Downtown Landing terminal.”
Option D: Travel to Catalina with Island Express Helicopters. Island Express Helicopters offers transportation to Avalon and Two Harbors utilizing their S76 helicopter which holds up to 9 passagers the day before the race. Located next to the Queen Mary, the rate from Long Beach to Avalon is $125 per person each way. Island Express is also offering a special marathoner rate to Two Harbors for $125 per person each way from Long Beach to Two Harbors. Travel to Avalon or Two Harbors the day before the race and depart from Avalon after the race.
Travel to Avalon on the 6:15 a.m. Catalina Express and pick up your registration at Wrigley Stage.
Finisher Pins and Bars
All marathon participants will receive their Finisher Pin once they complete the marathon. For those completing their first Catalina Island Conservancy Marathon, starter pins will be available for $5.
