2018 Registration is Now Open!

The Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run is coming up on it's 40th Anniversary! Come over, see the buffalo, the incredible vista’s and experience YOUR ultimate challenge on Catalina Island.

Race weekend consists of two events- the 50 Mile Run and in it's 2nd year, the Avalon 50K. The Avalon 50K (31 miles) runs a good portion of the traditional 50 Mile Run but will not run the out and back to Two Harbors, instead turning south at Little Harbor Overlook and heading back through Ben Wesson, Eagles Nest and up Middle Ranch Road to the finish in Avalon. You will experience the same great views, the commradarie, the tradition and the excitement of the 50 Mile – but just a bit less of it.

If you have ever thought of venturing out to Catalina Island, this is the year to come Run Catalina!

This race is part of the SoCal Ultra Series. Series members can earn points by competing in this race.

In cooperation with our host, the Avalon 50K/50M are CUPLESS COURSES! We will have water and electrolyte mix at every aid station. For hydration, we will be offering participants the option to purchase a $6 reusable Hydrapk 300ml SoftFlask or Hydrapak 200ml SpeedCup. Participants may choose to provide your own hydration system. Thank you for helping us reduce the footprint on the island!

Date & Time: Saturday, January 20, 2018 50 Mile starts at 5:00 A.M., 50K starts at 6:00 A.M. (courses will be closed at 5 p.m.)

Location: Crescent & the Pier, Avalon, CA - Santa Catalina Island Co.

Welcome to the Avalon 50/50 Benefit Run on Catalina Island. Whether you choose to conquer the entire island in our traditional 50 Mile Run, or start off with the Avalon 50K Benefit Run (31 miles), we welcome you to Catalina Island. This race weekend is renowed as one of the country’s most challenging and scenic runs. No cars, no smog, just great terrain, incredible views, fascinating historical sites, a well-organized race, nice people and great food await you.

We strive to provide you with an extraordinary running experience that you will not forget. Get hooked on Catalina and return for all of our RunCatalina events as you navigate through the Catalina Interior which features untouched landscapes, Bald Eagles, Catalina Island Fox, and the occasional buffalo sighting. We would like to remind you that this is a BENEFIT Run and that the pledges you collect and donate to the Avalon Lions Club will help significantly with the charities on the island including eye sight check-ups; scholarships for graduating seniors; Catalina Island Conservancy; among other local organizations. We need your help – please do your part to ensure the continuation of this great running tradition.

Come on over to Catalina, you will not regret placing this run on your annual calendar. Please make sure to read over our web-site closely for specifics that you will need on race day and to properly prepare for this incredible journey.

Sincerely,

Mike Bone – Spectrum Sports Management, Inc.
John Regalado – Avalon Lion’s Club
